Cascade County Wind

GFDA is proud to be a partner with the Cascade County Commission in its Cascade County Wind Marketing Program. Since 2001 the Cascade County Commission has worked hard to bring wind developers to the area by adopting a proactive and aggressive stance when it comes to policy, answering questions about wind development and streamlining the permitting process and other important considerations related to wind development. We invite you to visit Cascade County Wind  for more information on wind development in Cascade County.

Heavy Industrial Park Efforts

GFDA is working to create an industrial park with mixed use possibilities in the area of River Drive North and 18th Ave N.  The purpose of this park is to have “shovel ready” sites for heavy industrial development. “Shovel Ready” is defined as appropriately zoned development sites with sewer, water, power; redundant telecommunications service capacities and access to rail to support a wide array of businesses in the park. At this time there is no rail spur on the site.

Malmstrom AFB Joint Land Use Study

The Great Falls Development Authority is providing grant adminstration for the Malmstrom AFB Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to Cascade County.  Cascade County and the City of Great Falls will be participating in this study process with staff from Malmstrom AFB.  Cascade County will be the grant sponsor and will provide County Planning Staff as leadership/project management for the JLUS.   The initial steps of this process will call for a grant to be written and submitted for funding to the Office of Economic Adjustment, US Secretary of Defense.  Once funded, the County along with members of their appointed Policy Committee will select a consultant to conduct the study.  Over time, there will be additional meeting notices and other information made available to the public via this web site. For more information on the JLUS Process visit OEA's site

For information on the Cascade County sponsored Malmstrom AFB JLUS Project, contact Brian Clifton, Cascade County Planning Director, or Kim Thiel-Schaaf, Community Asset Director, Great Falls Development Authority.
